Conscious Kids Emotional Mastery Groups

Please note: this group is taking referrals and will schedule the next group when we have enough participants. Please contact Heather with your interest. Thank you!

The Conscious Kids Emotional Mastery Group is a four part series that helps children ages 5 - 12 learn and practice skills in emotion management. The group is designed to enrich emotional well-being; children might, but do not need to have, an identified emotional or behavioural issue in order to attend. This group can stand alone or be used in conjunction with other individual or family counseling.

This group will be fun! It includes a drum circle format; coloring mandalas; expressive movement; breathing, relaxation and mindfulness techniques; and role play.

The group will teach skills such as identifying emotions and emotional needs, healthy emotional expression, increasing awareness of self/others/the environment, healthy assertiveness, when and how to take space and self-redirect, concentration, and self-responsibility.
How to Register: Referrals can be accepted directly from clients or from helping professionals by emailing Heather at soundingsanctuary@gmail.com or by calling 360-389-1050.

Upon referral, an in-home parent/child interview will be scheduled, to support preparation for the group and to gather relevant information pertaining to the goals for the attending child. Then the child attends the series of four weekly sessions. Following the group, there is an optional final in-home parent/child interview to support the transition of the information learned into the home and other relevant environments, and to support the child's integration of the group material individually.

Location: 851 Democrat Street, Bellingham, WA

Dates and Time: to be announced

Fees: A sliding fee scale is available for both the in-home assessment visit and the weekly sessions. Payment can be made up-front at the time of the first in-home interview, or in installments as negotiated.
